Our cricket program
Cricket – for fun and fundraising
The majority of our members are ‘cricket tragics’ in that they have played or are still playing the game and/or love the spectacle of cricket.
The Primary Club has a cricket squad based in Sydney, which plays regularly in the City & Suburban Association with games on about 20 Sunday afternoons throughout the summer, played on turf wickets in a social but competitive fashion. Players need not commit to the full schedule of games but select those games and dates which suit their personal and family lifestyle.
Two volunteers, the Captain and the Cricket Secretary, sit on the PCA management committee and ensure the cricket players observe the principles of the charity at all times, including the need to contribute to fundraising.
From time to time, social cricket matches are organised for members in other capital cities and regions such as the Southern Highlands and Hunter Valley in NSW and Barossa Valley in SA.
The team also organises cricket tours to overseas destinations. In recent years, tours have been conducted in England, Kenya, South Africa, Barbados, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
